Afghan militant leader offers conditional help to NATO

A prominent militant leader has expressed readiness to help coalition forces in Afghanistan, if they organize to leave the country.

“We are ready to help with the United States and … other coalition forces if foreign troops announce the time frame for the pulling out their troops from Afghanistan,” CNN quoted Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of the pro-Taliban Hizb-e-Islami militant group, as saying.

Hekmatyar, a former Afghan prime minister, promised to resist foreign occupation of Afghanistan.

“I am sure Afghans will fight US forces and will continue Jihad against them like they fought against Russia before, if they don’t leave the country,” he added.
